Exterior & foundation cracks/movement to look for

inspectors should look for and note:

  • mortar joint condition;

  • loose bricks;

  • misdirected downspouts;

  • overflowing gutters;

  • horizontal cracks;

  • vertical cracks;

  • step cracks;

  • untreated wood in contact with soil;

  • previous repairs;

  • sagging lintels;

  • missing or obstructed weep holes;

  • too few weep holes; and

  • missing or improperly installed flashing.
